The Jewish Federation, in partnership with BBYO, Beth Shalom, Columbia Jewish Congregation, and Temple Isaiah, is proud to present a two-part series on anti-racist parenting with educator Amber Coleman-Mortely. In the push for a more equitable society, how do we challenge ourselves to become more knowledgeable about the experiences of others? Racism isn’t just about our words and our actions, racism is experienced as systems that perpetuate a lack of access, create barriers, and fuel mentalities that prevent all of us from engaging our best selves. This is ongoing work that requires each of us to challenge our biases, the media we consume, the conversations we hold with each other, and the way we connect our votes to policies that prevent access to other people near and far.

Students Session - 3/16

In this session, we will discuss how young people can center equity in all that they do, collaborate on solutions that push themselves outside their comfort zones, and signal that they are allies in this work.

Parents Session - 3/17

In this session, we will discuss the role that families play in building more equitable communities. How do we hold each other accountable so that we grow together as a community? How do we raise culturally competent white children? How can we improve efforts that create welcoming spaces for people from different backgrounds?
